Reimbursement services take 25%. Here's how to keep 100% and do it yourself safely

Two things make sellers hesitate about reimbursement services: the ~25% commission forever, and the account access (most log into Seller Central to file on your behalf). Both are avoidable.

The fear: does filing get you suspended? Take it seriously. Honest answer: filing legitimate, accurate claims for real discrepancies is normal FBA. Risk comes from the pattern, not the act — sudden high volume, duplicate claims, or claims that don't hold up. Services that file aggressively at volume across many accounts create that pattern, and when it lands under your account, it's on you. Filing yourself, at a human pace, only for events you've verified against your own reports, is the low-risk version. Verify, then file, at your own pace, from your own account.

Find your own discrepancies: match Inventory Adjustment (lost/misplaced/damaged) against Reimbursements (already paid) by SKU + date; unmatched + inside the window = candidates (windows ~60 days — see Article B). Also check received reimbursements were valued fairly vs your documented COGS.

File yourself: open a case per specific discrepancy, reference SKU + date + the adjustment line, attach documentation (invoice supports a sourcing-cost dispute), keep it factual, one event per case. Deliberate is safer and free.

Where Costback fits — and deliberately doesn't: it reads your own reports to flag claim-eligible discrepancies + which expire soonest (finding takes minutes). It does NOT log into your account, does NOT file for you, does NOT take a commission (flat fee → you keep 100%, no incentive to push volume). Comparing Getida/Sellerboard? The real question is whether you trade a % + account access for convenience, or keep both and file yourself. → getcostback.com
